The Call of a Servant-Follow The Pattern-Ecstasi McKenzie-Rollison
God has us called us to serve as sons and daughters. And to serve means
we are to be loyal to our man or woman of God.
Loyal: “giving or showing firm and constant support or allegiance to
a person or institution”. Other words that are similar to loyal are, devoted,
faithful, truehearted constant, committed, dedicated, reliable, and dependable.
To be loyal means you are obedient. Apostle has shared that our outward
relationships reveals our relationship with God. Meaning if I struggle
hearing God through Apostle when he gives instructions, it is the same way
with my relationship with God.
To be loyal means you are a servant. And to be a servant means you have
empty yourself completely.I can’t be a true daughter if I am not willing to die, surrender my will, and be loyal. When you are loyal no matter is said to you, done to you, you will be
committed, you will be loyal, you will be dedicated. Wherever he goes, I go.
You can see this in Ruth 1:14-18.
Ruth 1:14-18 (NKJV) They cried again. Orpah kissed her mother-in-law good-by, but Ruth held
on to her. 15 Naomi then said to Ruth, “Look, your sister-in-law is going back
to her people and to her gods! Why don’t you go with her?” 16 Ruth answered, “Please don’t tell me to leave you and return home! I will go where you go, I will live where you live; your people will be my people, your God will be my God. 17 I will die where you die and be buried beside you. May the LORD punish me if we are ever separated even by death!” [d]
18 When Naomi saw that Ruth had made up her mind to go with her, she stopped urging her to go back.
Ruth had a loyal and dedicated heart towards Naomi. Nothing was going to
stop her from following Naomi.
God showed me that through your loyalty and commitment to Apostle my
life will change, my destiny is revealed through following and I’m taken
places and connected to people as a result of my obedience in following
Apostle that would not have taken place if I was not following. We never
know how our story would end but when we follow the Man of God, our
lives will change.
Elisha was doing his own thing when Elijah went up to him and threw his
cloak around him, which this found in 1 Kings 19:19b.
Afterwards, Elisha life was never the same after he made his decision to
follow. Elisha left everything he had, everything he knew, his family and
friends to follow.
“Stay here, for the LORD has told me to go to the Jordan River.” But again
Elisha replied, “As surely as the LORD lives and you yourself live, I will
never leave you.” So they went on together. (2 Kings 2:6 NLT).
There is something to be a said about a man and women who is loyal and
committed to their assignment. Apostle has shared that this is how you
know you are locked in to you man of God is when God tells the man of
God to go you go.Serving gets me in the divine place of God where my destiny alines and is
revealed.
Acts 13:22 (NKJV) After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified
concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own
heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’
Our Yes to servanthood is producing our future. We don’t know what the
future may be but we know it will be exceedingly abundantly above all we
can ask or think.
I want to leave you with five principles Apostle shared one Bible Study
about the Function of a servant:
1. Must have a deep down respect for the leader – Why? Because to
respect your leader means you see value in your leader. You see the
importance of the leader in your life
2. Must make the advancement of the leader my most important goal – I
must take on whatever Apostle goals are, it must become my goal.
3. Must possess strength so as to thrust, push, and press my way
onward without giving up – That no matter what Apostle says or does,
it will not stop me from fulfilling my duties as a servant.
4. Must understand my leaders thoughts and his way of doing things - I
won’t understand my leaders thoughts and his way of doing things
when they are filled with my own thoughts…..Deny Myself
5. I must walk in submission – I must walk in Humility
God is calling us to be servants by serving our leader and when we do our
lives will truly change for the better. Will you answer the call this morning to
be a better servant or to even start serving your leader.
