Matthew 14:25-31 (NKJV) 25 Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, [a]“Be of good cheer! [b]It is I; do not be afraid.”28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw [c]that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”As Jesus said in Versus 29 to Peter, He is saying to Us. Jesus is saying….. “Come’.

Come means: “to move toward something.” Rather we realize it or not we are all moving towards something. Rather we moving toward Jesus or not.

Versus 30 in the AMPC 30 But when he perceived and felt the strong wind, he was frightened, and as he began to sink.

The word perceived means: Recognized through the senses.

The moment Peter cried out for help immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him. God does not want us to allow the situations we face overwhelm us or distract but it is for us to come and draw closer to Jesus.

The Bible says in James 4:8Draw near to God and He will draw near to you”. Who must do the drawing? I must do the drawing. I make the decision to draw close to God.

Hebrews 12:2a AMPC Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith.

We must make the decision to turn, to look away, anything and everything that will distract to Jesus. How many of us are in the boat like the other disciples looking at Peter gets out the boat, how many of us are standing on the water with Jesus and how many of us are sinking? No matter what state you might be in, Jesus is with us. If you’re in the boat, Jesus is saying Come, if your sinking, Jesus is there ready to stretch forth his hand can catch you when you call upon him and if your standing on the water continue to trust God, and not get distracted but keep your focus on Jesus. Jesus is right where you are right now and he …saying Come.
