Key Scripture: Romans 10:17 (NKJV) So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
1. What is Faith? - Faith simply put is pure trust in the ability and will of God to perform his promises in your life. We prove our faith is alive through works of righteousness. Just believe, hear and obey His Word and leave the rest to the Lord.
2. While asking the Holy Spirit for understanding of this scripture, the spirit said there need to be clarity that while hearing and listening may seem like they serve the same purpose, the difference between the two is fairly significant.
Hearing and Listening uses both your ears.
Hearing is receiving sound waves through your ears, while listening means hearing and understanding what you’ve heard.
Hearing is part of the five senses, while listening is a choice to hear and analyze what you hear.
3. Lack of hearing the word will cause you to miss God.
4. Babble defined: The thesaurus defines babble as talking idly, irrationally, excessively or foolishly. Simply put. If you can’t hear the word of God, you hear babble.
Babble is witnessed in scripture. 2 Timothy 2:16 (AMP) - But avoid irreverent babble and godless chatter (with its profane, empty words) for it will lead to further ungodliness.
Proverbs 10:14 (MSG) The wise accumulate knowledge – a true treasure; know-it-alls talk too much – a sheer waste.
The Bible says faith is “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).
2 Corinthians 5:7 “for we walk by faith, not by sight.
Hebrews 11:6 “without faith it is impossible to please him: for He that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them tat diligently seek him”.
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen”.
Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and not of yourselves; it is the gift of God”.
